Our Story

Executive Public Accountants, Inc. was established in 1995 by current President and CFO, Jeanne Dufresne. Under Jeanne’s leadership, the company has increased the services offered to include financial accounting, bookkeeping, tax preparation, and business consulting services. EPA’s clients vary from corporations, sole proprietors, non-profits, and individuals throughout the Twin Cities and greater metro area.

The EPA staff boasts a wide variety of skills with their team members that include Certified Public Accountants, Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisors, Small Business Accountants and Bookkeepers, and bilingual speaking. Executive Public Accountants is locally owned and operates out of Andover, Minnesota.

Jeanne Dufresne
Partner, Accountant & Senior Tax Preparer

Jeanne knows firsthand what it takes to build and run a successful business. After owning and selling other businesses of her own, she founded Executive Public Accountants in 1987 with a passion for helping fellow entrepreneurs succeed. She enjoys looking beyond the numbers, helping business owners solve problems, make confident decisions, and achieve their goals. Jeanne holds an accounting degree from Metropolitan State University.

Having spent five years in Germany and five years in Spain, Jeanne is fluent in Spanish and speaks some German. Outside the office, she enjoys traveling, hiking, gardening, yoga, and—one of her favorite activities—chasing her grandchildren around.

Corrie Niska
Partner, Accountant & Senior Tax Preparer

Corrie has a natural ability to connect with people and build lasting relationships. She takes the time to understand each client’s needs and enjoys making even complicated tax matters easier to navigate. A partner at EPA, Corrie has been with the firm since 2012 and brings extensive experience in tax preparation, accounting, and QuickBooks. Her knowledge of tax regulations, attention to detail, and practical approach help clients understand their tax situations and make informed decisions. Corrie is a Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor and graduate of Augsburg University.

Outside the office, Corrie is a busy hockey and baseball mom of three boys who also enjoys coaching and volunteering. She is active in her church and loves spending time with family, especially relaxing at the cabin.

Nick Zillman
Partner, CPA & Tax Preparer

Nick helps business owners turn financial information into smarter business decisions. With a background in corporate finance, financial analysis, risk management, and financial reporting, he brings the financial insight of larger corporations to small businesses. As a CPA and partner at EPA, Nick focuses on helping owners understand profitability, manage cash flow, plan for growth, and anticipate financial challenges before they become problems. His approach goes beyond tax preparation and bookkeeping to provide the strategic guidance business owners need to make informed decisions about their future.

Nick holds a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance from UW–Eau Claire and a master’s degree in Cyber Security from Concordia University–St. Paul. Outside the office, Nick is a proud father of three who enjoys camping, spending time outdoors, and making memories with his family.

Todd Novotny
CPA & Senior Tax Preparer

With 40 years of experience, Todd brings an exceptional depth of accounting, tax, and business knowledge to the EPA team. His career has taken him from public accounting and auditing to CPA firm partner and corporate Chief Financial Officer, giving him a valuable perspective on both business finances and taxation. His expertise includes individual and corporate tax preparation, tax planning, financial reporting, and resolving IRS notices. A CPA since 1987, Todd enjoys tackling challenging tax issues, making complex matters understandable, and sharing his knowledge with the next generation of accounting professionals.

Outside the office, Todd enjoys traveling, ATV riding, spending time at the cabin, and being with his family. A Minnesota Vikings season ticket holder for over 25 years, he’s still convinced that this just might be their year!

Kim Tanner
Business Operations & Payroll Manager

Kim has a talent for keeping things organized, improving processes, and making life easier for clients. With over 20 years of management and administrative experience, she brings a practical, solutions-focused approach to EPA’s business operations, payroll, bookkeeping, and client services. She enjoys simplifying complicated processes and taking tasks off business owners’ plates. Kim holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Management, minor Human Resources and is a Certified QBO Payroll and QBO ProAdvisor.

Outside the office, Kim enjoys traveling, entertaining, reading, and spending time with her family. A proud mom of three and grandmother of one, she also serves on the board of Stories Foundation, a Minnesota nonprofit dedicated to fighting human trafficking.

Hendrik Roos
Accounting & Tax Specialist

Hendrik combines a strong understanding of accounting, taxation, and business operations with a natural talent for solving problems. His calm, intuitive, and analytical approach helps him recognize concerns, identify solutions, and guide clients through complicated situations with clarity and confidence. His experience includes tax preparation, bookkeeping, payroll, sales tax, QuickBooks, and business technology. A Certified QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor, Hendrik is dedicated to continually advancing his professional knowledge through specialized accounting and tax education, professional development courses, and ongoing training in small-business operations and tax planning.

Born in Germany and raised in both Germany and the United States, Hendrik speaks English and some German. Outside the office, Hendrik enjoys soccer, cooking, exploring new places, spending time outdoors, and attending live music events. An avid dog and cat lover, he also enjoys spending time with the furry friends in his life.

Gaven Sombrio
Client Services & Bookkeeping

Gaven is known for his kind, caring nature and willingness to go the extra mile to help clients. Patient and easy to talk to, he has a natural ability to make people feel comfortable and welcome. Often the first point of contact at EPA, Gaven plays an important role in client communications, scheduling, and helping resolve questions and technology issues. His responsibilities also include QuickBooks bookkeeping, account reconciliations, and organizing financial information, making him a valuable part of the EPA team.

Having lived in Germany, Gaven speaks both English and German. Outside the office, he enjoys photography, traveling, spending time outdoors, and learning to play the guitar and snowboard.

Jade Albertson
Senior Bookkeeper & Accounting Specialist

Jade enjoys the challenge of making financial records accurate, organized, and reliable. With over seven years of accounting and bookkeeping experience, she has a particular talent for uncovering discrepancies, cleaning up accounts, and solving the bookkeeping problems that can leave business owners frustrated. Her expertise includes QuickBooks, payroll, reconciliations, and financial reporting. Jade holds an Associate of Applied Science degree in Accounting and a certificate from the American Institute of Professional Bookkeepers.

Outside the office, Jade enjoys traveling, hiking, and exploring new places. She also loves discovering new restaurants, spending time outdoors, and making memories with her husband and friends.
